AP Land’s oil palm plantation in East Kalimantan, Indonesia marks its
foray into the agriculture resources sector, which is part of the Group’s
diversification plans both in Malaysia and abroad, to expand its sustainable
earnings base and competitiveness beyond the property development
sector.
A greenfield project when acquired in end 2007, the venture has seen
remarkable progress throughout 2008 – represented by the clearing of
substantial secondary jungle land; establishment of a pre-& main nursery with
sufficient quality seedlings/advanced planting material; & site infrastructure
to support a fully operational plantation.
Backed by a team of professional and dedicated personnel with a combined
work experience of in excess of 50 years in the oil palm plantation industry
and with local Indonesian exposure, the Group is confident of meeting its
targets of planting 4,000 Ha in 2009, another 5,000 Ha by the last quarter
of 2010, a fully commissioned and operational 60 metric-tonne/hour mill
to commence CPO production by 2012, and, barring any unforeseen
circumstances, the realization of its ultimate vision to expand its business
base in Indonesia by establishing approx 50,000 Ha of oil palm plantation
within the next 5 years.
